This jewelry box has ample space for earrings, cuff links, necklaces, watches. The one tray has eight padded inserts for rings, earrings, and cuff links.

This box is made from Padauk, a hardwood from Central and tropical west Africa. It has a spectacular grain pattern and vibrant colours. The accents on the top are bands of Yellowheart, Cardinalwood and Curly Maple, separated and defined by strips of black veneer.

Except for black veneer, no stains or dyes have been used. The rich colours that you see are the natural colours of the finished woods.

Dimensions:

Overall exterior dimensions are about 12" x 9" x 4" (30.5 x 22.9 x 10.2 cm)

The interior lower level is about 1.1" (2.9 cm) deep with these compartments:-
~ one about 6.8" x 4.8"   (17.1 x 12.1 cm)
~ six  about 2.3" x 2.1"  (5.7 x 5.4 cm)

The removable trays are about 0.9" (2.2 cm) deep configured as follows:-
~  one has six compartments about 2.1" x 2.1"  (5.4 x 5.4 cm)
~  the other has
          ~ 1 compartment about 2.1" x 6.7"  (5.4 x 16.8 cm)
          ~ 8 padded inserts, each about 1.9" (4.8 cm) wide and about 0.8" (19 mm) deep
   NOTE: Maximum clearance above the top of the padded inserts is about 0.4" (10 mm)

Finish:

Interior and exterior are finished with an Osmo micro-porous wood oil. The resultant low-lustre finish is smooth, durable, and appealing. Trays, dividers and supports are finished with Danish Oil, a penetrating resin.

Exterior:

The sides of the box are made from a single board with waterfall mitre joints. That allows the natural pattern of the wood grain to flow all the way around the box. Grain is matched on three corners.

Mitred corners reinforced with Cardinalwood keys.

Sides are solid 1/2" (13mm) thick Padauk

Top is made from solid woods into an assembly about 1/2" (13 mm) thick. It is then re-sawn into two pieces about 1/8" (3mm) thick which are laminated to both sides of 1/4" (6 mm) plywood. This construction not only makes the interior of the top as attractive as the exterior, but also prevents warping of the top.

Interior:

Solid brass quadrant hinges.

Tray sides and dividers are Cherry.

Interior is  lined with durable faux suede fabric.
