This was a very personal project, one I felt honoured to be given.
My client wanted custom memento boxes, one for his wife and one for each of his children. They would contain correspondence and special objects that he would leave for his loved ones on his passing.
Together we worked out the design and woods to be used.
To make the boxes for his children subtly different, one was made with Roasted Bird's Eye Maple and one with Roasted Curly Maple. The accents on both were the same, Wenge and Bloodwood. The faux-suede linings were different colours.
For his wife, we chose a heavily figured board of Bird's Eye Maple. East Indian Rosewood and Purpleheart were used for accents.
Box sizes were about 9" x 12" x 3.5"
