This top of this large urn is made from a bookmarked piece of Cherry. Main accent on the top is made of bands of Bubinga, Cherry and Leopardwood, separated and defined by strips of Padauk veneer. Wenge dowels are in the intersections of the bands. No stains or dyes have been used. The rich colours that you see are the natural colours of the finished woods.

Interior and exterior are finished with an Osmo microporous wood oil. The resultant low-lustre finish is smooth, durable, and appealing.

Overall exterior dimensions are about 14.3" x 11.3" x 4.8" (36.2 x 28.6 x 12.1 cm).

Internal dimensions are about 12" x 9" x 3.8" (30.5 x 22.9 x 9.5 cm).

Internal capacity is 400 cubic inches ( 6.6 L).

Access is from bottom which is secured with twelve screws.

Woods Used:

Cherry, Bubinga, Leopardwood, Wenge

Exterior:

The sides are made from a single board with waterfall mitre joints. That allows the natural pattern of the wood grain to flow all the way around the urn. Grain is matched on three corners.

Mitred corners reinforced with Bubinga keys.

Sides are solid 3/4" (19mm) thick Cherry.

Top and base are made from solid 1/2" (13mm) thick Cherry.
